Beth Westra is a collage artist and an elementary school teacher who lives in North Yarmouth, Maine with her
husband and two children. Beth has always been interested in interior design and decorating and began doing collage art six years
ago as a way to decorate her own home. She uses decorative papers from around the world to create her colorful, and fanciful
still lifes and landscapes. She is inspired by the rich variety of paper and the combinations of color she is able to incorporate
into her compositions.
Beth works in a home studio and creates much of her work in the summer months when she is on a break from teaching. The summer
is her time to rejuvenate and reconnect with herself and her artwork. The repeated subjects often seen in her artwork represent
summer in Maine. When looking at her body of work you might see flowers in a vase sitting on a table, light houses, sail boats,
beach umbrellas, ocean waves or floating clouds in a blue sky.
Over the years, Beth has donated her work to raise funds for various organizations and has most recently begun to show and sell
her work at local venues in Maine.
